Terms of Service

1. Agreement

By subscribing to, installing, or using FilmBase, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the software.

2. Subscription

FilmBase is sold as a subscription through the Mac App Store and the Microsoft Store. While your subscription is active, you are granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use FilmBase for your own productions.

• Monthly at $39 per month, billed every month.
• Yearly at $349 per year, billed every twelve months.

Both plans include the complete feature set and all updates released while your subscription is active. The only difference between them is the billing period.

3. Stores and Devices

Your subscription is tied to the store you bought it from and to the account you used there.

• A Mac App Store subscription runs FilmBase on Mac computers signed in to your Apple Account.
• A Microsoft Store subscription runs FilmBase on Windows computers signed in to your Microsoft account.

The two stores are separate and a subscription bought in one does not transfer to the other. Working across both Mac and Windows requires a subscription in each store. An internet connection is needed to install FilmBase and to confirm your subscription. Beyond that the app runs offline.

4. Restrictions

You may not:

• Redistribute, resell, rent, or sublicense FilmBase
• Share your store account so that people outside your household or organization can use your subscription
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices, labels, or marks

5. Free Trial

Both plans begin with a 7-day free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription automatically and the store charges you for the plan you selected. You can cancel at any point during the trial from your Apple Account or Microsoft account.

6. Billing, Renewal, and Cancellation

All payments are collected by Apple or Microsoft under their own terms. We never see or store your payment details. All prices are in USD, and the store may show local pricing and add tax where it applies.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your Apple Account or Microsoft account, and your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancel at least 24 hours before a renewal date to avoid being charged for the next period.

7. Refunds

We do not process refunds. The 7-day free trial is there so you can put a real project through FilmBase before you pay anything, and you can cancel at any time so you are never billed for a period you did not intend to buy. Any billing question is handled by the store you subscribed through, under their terms. This does not affect the statutory rights you have where you live.

8. When Your Subscription Ends

FilmBase needs an active subscription to run. When a subscription ends, you will no longer be able to open the app or your projects until you subscribe again. Your project files stay on your computer and open as normal once you resubscribe.

9. Your Data

All data you create in FilmBase is stored locally on your device. You own your data completely. We do not access, collect, or store any of your project data. You are responsible for backing up your own files.

10. Updates

Feature updates and bug fixes are included for as long as your subscription is active, delivered through the store you subscribed with.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

FilmBase is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We are not liable for any data loss, damages, or other issues arising from the use of the software.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from the use of FilmBase shall not exceed the amount you paid for your subscription in the twelve months before the claim arose.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of FilmBase after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
