Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before you start. Full detail lives in the subscription docs.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Both plans start with a 7-day free trial, so you can put a real project through FilmBase before you pay for anything. Start the trial from the Mac App Store or the Microsoft Store. If you cancel before the 7 days are up, you are not charged.
What is the difference between Monthly and Yearly?
Only the billing period. Both plans are the full app, with every feature, unlimited projects, and all updates while you subscribe. Yearly costs less over twelve months, monthly lets you stop between projects.
What happens if I cancel?
FilmBase keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, then it stops opening projects until you subscribe again. Your project files stay on your computer the whole time, and they open again as soon as you resubscribe.
How do I cancel or change plan?
In your Apple Account if you subscribed through the Mac App Store, or your Microsoft account if you subscribed through the Microsoft Store. Both let you switch between monthly and yearly, or cancel, without contacting us.
Which computers does my subscription work on?
Your subscription is tied to the store you buy it from. A Mac App Store subscription runs FilmBase on your Mac, and a Microsoft Store subscription runs it on your Windows computers. The two stores are separate, so a subscription bought in one does not carry over to the other. If you work on both Mac and Windows, you need a subscription in each store.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to install FilmBase and to let it confirm your subscription. Day to day it runs fully offline with your data stored on your own computer, and team collaboration runs over your local network with nothing on a server.
Do you offer refunds?
We do not process refunds ourselves. The 7-day free trial is there so you can run a real project through FilmBase before you pay anything, and you can cancel at any point so you are never billed for a period you did not intend to buy. Billing sits with the store you subscribed through and follows their terms.
